The wave straightening press, as the name suggests, serves to align shafts with forces from 500N to 200kN. It is an essential part of the system of the shaft support and clamping mechanism and the ease of use of the same. The shafts can be stretched between tips in a few easy steps, the bearing surfaces are height-adjustable as well as the tips themselves. The shafts can be moved in the axial direction which gives rise to the possibility to press in one operation at several different locations on the shaft. In the radial direction, the waves are scanned by dial gauges, which can also be fixed along the shaft axis at different positions.
The operation of the machine by means of a hand lever is arranged so that the operator has a good overview of the dial gauges and yet is able to control the press stamp sensitive. The manner of control is analogous to the deflection of the hand lever wherein the Auslenkweg of the hand lever is opposite to a cylinder stroke. Each movement of the hand lever thus results in an equivalent movement of the cylinder, thus creating the feeling for the operator as if he were pressing directly on the shaft.
Shaft straightening presses can be produced in different size settings whereby the wave straightening press shown was built for shafts up to 900mm in length.
